Thanks for sharing your experience. There's a real problem when there is such a disconnect between message and MISSION.

People should read more about these things, rather than rely on myths and rumors. The tragedy of a working system begins with misinformation. Pretty soon, people will start arguing instead of providing solutions.

Sandra, great example of an organization telling a story in just a few words. Photos are very powerful in storytelling and savvy organizations are finding ways to use photos in all their communications. It is great to see an example of how one org is doing it well - thanks for sharing it.

The headline and writing are great. However, World Vision does not live up to its great copy. I sponsored a child with them for several years, and one month received a form letter saying that they would no longer be active in my child's community and my sponsorship was being terminated. Also, unlike Compassion, where you can conduct real communication between sponsor and child, World Vision spends a fortune on creating form communications for sponsors to send to their children. In my case, the communications did not work well, because they were clearly for very young children, and the boy I sponsored was 12. So, the lesson is: Copy is the first step, and only the first step. No amount of great communicating will ever convince me to contribute to that organization again.
