Why do I Blog? Good question…

Posted on Apr 29, 2007 under General |

I suppose this is an online version of the “how well do you know your friends” email forward. I rarely participate in those but this blog meme thing is kind of cool.

Basically one blogger writes on the topic and then tags 5 others. Kidino, who created the cover art for my first e-book in 2004 (The Beginner’s Guide) has tagged me. So here they are, the top 5 reasons that I blog…

1. It’s a fairly easy way to publish a website. Wordpress has some limitations as a CMS but overall it’s been a great way to publish. I like the categories feature as many posts fit different categories. Just hit publish and the entire website is updated with the new information.

2. It’s a good way to share information. With a blog I can quickly post time sensitive information. I like to write more developed articles but that takes more time and structure. A blog can have posts with quick tips, current events, I can respond to topics on other blogs, the media etc…it’s very flexible.

3. Blogging is participating in a community. The more I read blogs the more interested I became in writing one. You can become involved with a blog discussion by commenting on others blogs. Reading blogs often inspires me about writing about that or another topic. I can add other blogs to my blogroll or link to them in posts as a way of giving kudos to other bloggers.

4. My blog is a place for personal expression. Here on Guiding Vision I feel more free to write about causes I personally support as well as other topics that are outside of the purpose of my other websites.

5. Blogging has no borders. I’m still amazed at the great business and personal connections that I’ve made with people from many cultures and backgrounds. I’ve met some of the kindest, most interesting people from around the US and from countries around the world.

So why do you blog? I’m tagging:

  1. Marc Pitman - Fundraising Coach
  2. Joe Mizereck - Grants Alert
  3. Heidi Richards
  4. Becky McCray - Small Biz Survival
  5. And my hubby Troy ;)
